A prop firm that says it allows news trading may still restrict the exact action your strategy needs. The evaluation may be unrestricted while the funded stage bans entries, treats an activated stop as prohibited execution or credits only part of the profit earned around a release.
MyFxKit reviewed eight named CFD and Forex CFD programs or configurations using five separate states: opening, closing, holding, pending-order execution and profit eligibility. The rules were checked against official sources on September 6, 2026. News policies can change quickly, so verify the relevant rule again on the day you buy and before trading a scheduled event.

Quick answer: E8 Pro Forex and the FTMO 2-Step Swing configuration show the clearest unrestricted news-trading permissions across their challenge and performance-account stages in the sources reviewed. FundedNext Stellar challenges also permit news trading, but affected profitable trades in the FundedNext Account receive 40% profit credit while losses remain fully counted. FTMO Standard, The5ers High Stakes and Alpha Swing use stage-specific or conditional rules, so none should be reduced to a bare “allowed” label.

Snapshot: MFK-NEWS-2026-09-06-01 · Sources checked: September 6, 2026. The stage-level evidence behind this guide is recorded in the research dataset. Match the event, reference timezone and affected instruments against the firm’s official dashboard before execution.
Permission to trade news does not guarantee reliable execution. Spread expansion, slippage, gaps and latency can change the result even in a simulated environment. This page compares contractual permissions, not the profitability of a news strategy. It is not financial, legal, tax or sanctions advice.
Why “news trading allowed” is ambiguous
A news trade is not limited to clicking Buy or Sell at the release. A trader may already hold a position, have a stop-entry waiting to activate, close manually inside the window, trigger a Stop Loss or Take Profit, or later discover that part of the profit does not count toward the account balance or payout.
Every news rule therefore needs to be read through five separate states:

| State | Exact question | Common mistake |
|---|---|---|
| Open | Can a market order or pending entry execute inside the window? | Assuming permission to hold also permits entry |
| Close | Can the position be closed manually inside the window? | Forgetting that closing is an execution event |
| Hold | Can a position opened earlier remain active through the release? | Closing a valid position unnecessarily |
| Pending orders | What happens to entry orders, Stop Loss and Take Profit? | Treating entry and exit orders as identical |
| Profit eligibility | How much profit counts toward balance, target or payout? | Confusing a profit adjustment with an account breach |
These states must be recorded separately for the evaluation and funded stages. FTMO Standard is unrestricted during evaluation but restricted on the FTMO Account. FundedNext also allows news trading in its challenges while applying a separate news-profit calculation in the FundedNext Account.
How programs qualify for this collection
The unit of comparison is not the brand alone. It is the complete combination:
brand + exact program + configuration + account stage
A program entered the dataset only when an official product page or help-center article gave attributable information about news trading. A brand-level marketing label was not used to fill every field. When an official source is silent about a state, that state remains unknown; silence is not interpreted as permission.
For each record, MyFxKit logs:
- Exact program name and Standard or Swing configuration.
- Evaluation, funded, performance or qualified stage.
- Permission to open, close and hold.
- Treatment of entry orders, Stop Loss and Take Profit.
- Start and end of the restricted window.
- Covered events and affected instruments.
- Profit-credit and loss treatment.
- Consequence: adjustment, soft breach or possible account termination.
See the MyFxKit methodology for source-conflict handling and the prop-firm rule burden guide for comparing the severity of different consequences.

“No restriction stated” for E8 Pro Forex and FTMO Swing is based on an affirmative official statement that news trading is unrestricted. Execution risk still exists. The FundedNext rows show permission to trade, but the economic treatment of profitable affected trades differs between the challenge and funded stages.
How a restricted news window works

If an event is released at 16:30:00 in the firm’s reference timezone, a four-minute window runs from 16:28:00 to 16:32:00, while a ten-minute window runs from 16:25:00 to 16:35:00. Three details can still change the outcome:
- Are the first and final seconds included in the restricted interval?
- Does the firm use server time or an external calendar?
- Is the relevant timestamp order submission or actual execution?
In a fast market, an order submitted before the window can execute after the window begins. A practical buffer should therefore be wider than the contractual minimum. A synchronized server-time display and live spread monitor can help execution planning, but neither changes the firm’s rule.
Program-by-program findings
E8 Pro Forex
The official E8 Pro Forex rules state that news trading is permitted without restrictions in both the SimFi Challenge and SimFi Performance stages. The current snapshot consequently records opening, closing, holding and order execution as permitted, with no separate news-profit deduction.
The same page warns that the simulated environment reflects market conditions such as slippage and advises caution around high-impact releases. That is an execution-risk warning, not a contractual prohibition.
FTMO 2-Step Swing
The official FTMO 2-Step page states that news restrictions apply to Standard accounts, while the Swing configuration has no news-trading restrictions. Evaluation is unrestricted regardless of configuration, and the Swing configuration retains broader permission on the FTMO Account.
Swing is not offered with the 1-Step product. A trader who needs it should confirm the complete product and configuration on the purchase page before placing the first trade.
FTMO 1-Step Standard
The FTMO news-trading FAQ separates the Evaluation Process from the FTMO Account. Evaluation is unrestricted. On a Standard FTMO Account, a trader cannot open or close a trade on affected instruments from two minutes before until two minutes after selected announcements.
Pending-order, Stop Loss and Take Profit execution can also count as prohibited opening or closing. A position opened more than two minutes before may be held, but an SL or TP triggered inside the window is still execution. FTMO’s news-indicator explanation reinforces the evaluation-versus-funded distinction.
FundedNext Stellar 1-Step CFD
The official Stellar 1-Step rule permits news trading in the Challenge and FundedNext Account. The Challenge does not apply the separate news-profit adjustment.
On the FundedNext Account, only 40% of profit from an affected profitable trade is credited when the trade is opened or closed between five minutes before and five minutes after a high-impact event. Affected losses remain fully counted. This is not presented as an automatic account breach, but it can reduce the valid cycle profit and payout eligibility.
FundedNext Stellar 2-Step CFD
The Stellar 2-Step news rule permits unrestricted news trading in the Challenge. The FundedNext Account uses the same five-minute window on each side and 40% profit-credit treatment.
The rule covers market execution and pending orders. A Take Profit or Stop Loss triggered inside the window can make the trade affected, and a partial close may cause the whole order to be included in the adjustment. The general FundedNext news rule explains how the adjustment is applied after the trading cycle.
FundedNext Stellar Lite CFD
The official Stellar Lite rule follows the same stage split: unrestricted Challenge trading, followed by 40% credit for affected profitable trades and full treatment of affected losses on the FundedNext Account.
For an NFP strategy, entry time is not the only relevant timestamp. A position opened before the window may still be affected when its Take Profit executes inside the interval.
The5ers High Stakes
The official High Stakes rule permits holding a position through a high-impact release but prohibits a new position—including a market order or pending entry—from two minutes before until two minutes after the event.
The restriction is written specifically for new entries. Existing Stop Loss and Take Profit orders may execute. A prohibited entry is treated as a soft breach: its profit is removed while its loss remains. The firm references Forex Factory red-folder events and server time.
The general The5ers news guide demonstrates why program names matter: Bootcamp and Hyper-Growth use a different approach and permit news trading except for bracketing strategies. The High Stakes rule should not be applied to the entire brand.
Alpha Swing
The Alpha Swing page permits trading around high-impact news, but a trade initiated from two minutes before until two minutes after the event must remain open for more than two minutes. Entry is therefore conditional rather than prohibited; minimum duration is the defining requirement.
The general Alpha news-trading rule shows the program difference. Alpha Pro, Alpha One and Alpha Direct restrict opening and closing for five minutes on each side, while Alpha Swing uses a four-minute interval with the duration condition.
Profit adjustment, soft breach and contract breach
These outcomes are not interchangeable:
| Outcome | What happens | Example in this snapshot |
|---|---|---|
| Profit adjustment | The account remains active, but only part of the profit is credited | FundedNext Account |
| Soft breach | Profit from the trade is removed while the loss remains | High Stakes prohibited entry |
| Contract breach | The account may be terminated | Standard FTMO Account |
The distinction changes expected value. A trade showing a nominal $1,000 gain may contribute only $400 after a 40% profit-credit rule, while a $1,000 affected loss remains $1,000. Recalculate the strategy’s post-rule reward-to-risk ratio instead of relying on platform P&L alone.
News rules can also operate alongside daily drawdown and floating-loss controls. Review the prop-firm drawdown guide, floating-loss rule guide and prop-firm rules hub for combined-risk scenarios.
Why permission does not mean safe execution
Around NFP, CPI or an interest-rate decision, traders may face:
- Wider-than-normal spreads.
- Slippage between requested and filled price.
- Partial or delayed fills.
- Price gaps through Stop Loss.
- Simultaneous moves across correlated currency pairs.
An unrestricted program does not pause its daily-loss calculation. Multiple USD positions can become one concentrated news exposure. Compare permission with the program’s rule-pressure profile, drawdown model and current execution conditions.
News-trading checklist before purchase
- Record the exact program, stage and Standard or Swing configuration.
- Open the official rule source instead of relying on a sales-card badge.
- Identify covered events and their impact classification.
- Match the calendar timezone to server time.
- Write down the exact start and end of the window.
- Check market entry and pending entry separately.
- Check manual exit, Stop Loss and Take Profit separately.
- Confirm whether a previously opened position may be held.
- Record profit-credit percentage and loss treatment.
- Identify the consequence: adjustment, soft breach or termination.
- Add a buffer for latency and clock differences.
- Save a dated copy of the applicable rule on purchase day.
Country eligibility, identity verification and payout access remain separate questions. Review the prop-firm directory, payout guides and each firm’s current terms before paying.
How this collection is updated

This collection is reviewed monthly and after a material news-window or profit-credit change. The program name, stage, configuration, five states, reference event, affected instrument, window and consequence are checked again. An ambiguous field remains unknown until an official source resolves it.
Verified changes are logged in the MyFxKit changelog. If the table conflicts with a current official dashboard, submit the exact program, stage, server time and a dated screenshot through the corrections page. Use the prop-firm directory and MyFxKit collections to research additional programs.

Frequently asked questions
Which prop firm is best for NFP trading?
There is no universal winner. E8 Pro Forex and FTMO 2-Step Swing state no news restriction in the sources reviewed, but suitability also depends on drawdown, spreads, slippage, price and country eligibility. Verify the exact program, not just the brand.
Can I hold a trade through a news release?
Holding is generally permitted in the programs listed here, but Stop Loss or Take Profit execution may have separate treatment. Standard FTMO Accounts prohibit those executions inside the window, while FundedNext may apply its 40% profit-credit rule.
Are pending orders allowed during news?
It depends on the order and program. High Stakes prohibits pending entries inside its window but distinguishes the exit orders of an existing trade. Standard FTMO Accounts restrict entry, SL and TP execution during the applicable window.
Is FundedNext’s 40% news-profit rule an account breach?
The official sources describe it as a profit calculation adjustment, not an automatic breach. Only 40% of affected profit is credited, while affected losses remain fully counted. The adjustment can still change valid balance and payout eligibility.
When does a news window begin?
In this snapshot, Standard FTMO Accounts and High Stakes use two minutes on each side, while the relevant FundedNext funded accounts use five minutes on each side. Confirm the official event list and reference clock on the trading day.
How often should I verify news rules?
Check before purchase, after advancing to a new stage and before every high-impact event you intend to trade. MyFxKit reviews this collection monthly and when a rule changes, but the official rule in force on the trading day remains the operational reference.
